The Fischer Theatre is presenting RENT the Musical on May 22, 23, and 24! Directed by Bryan Jenkins.

Auditions will take place on February 9 & 10 starting at 6 PM each night on the Fischer Theatre Stage.

Callbacks for those who are selected will take place on February 11 & 12.

Audition Preparation: Please prepare a pop/rock song NOT from RENT that best shows your vocal ability and storytelling. Bring sheet music or a backing track. Sing for 1 minute.

Group readings will take place at 7:30 after vocal auditions each evening.

Available Parts:

Mark Cohen (Tenor / Baritone)
A documentary filmmaker and the show’s narrator. Smart, funny, and idealistic, Mark observes the chaos and beauty of his chosen family while searching for his place in the world. Strong acting and connection to text required; singing is conversational and expressive.

Roger Davis (Tenor)
A former rock guitarist haunted by loss and determined to write one meaningful song before time runs out. Emotionally guarded but deeply passionate. Requires a strong rock tenor with grit and vulnerability.

Mimi Márquez (Mezzo-Soprano)
A young dancer living intensely and impulsively. Sensual, playful, and emotionally raw, Mimi craves connection while battling addiction and illness. Strong belt and emotional honesty required.

Tom Collins (Bass / Baritone)
A kind-hearted philosopher and anarchist with deep compassion and warmth. Collins brings heart, wisdom, and humor to the group. Requires a rich, full lower register and strong emotional presence.

Angel Dumott Schunard (Tenor)
A joyful, generous street musician and performance artist who brings light and love wherever they go. Charismatic, comedic, and deeply moving. Strong vocals and stage presence essential.

Maureen Johnson (Mezzo-Soprano / Alto)
A bold, attention-loving performance artist who thrives on chaos and passion. Fearless, funny, and unapologetically dramatic. Strong belt, comic timing, and confidence required.

Joanne Jefferson (Mezzo-Soprano / Alto)
A driven, intelligent lawyer navigating love, jealousy, and commitment. Grounded, controlled, and emotionally complex. Requires vocal strength and subtle acting skills.

Benjamin Coffin III – Benny (Baritone)
A former friend turned landlord caught between idealism and responsibility. Authority with underlying vulnerability. Strong acting and confident vocals required.

Ensemble (All Voice Parts)
The vibrant community of New York’s East Village—artists, activists, neighbors, and friends. Strong singers and movers with the ability to tell stories as individuals and as a group.
