Join us on Wednesday, September 23rd for How to Sell Out a Haunted Theater: An Evening with Grady Hendrix, presented by the Danville Public Library!
Grady Hendrix, New York Times bestselling author of How to Sell a Haunted House, Witchcraft for Wayward Girls, The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires, and more, comes to the Historic Fischer Theatre for a special evening celebrating horror, books, storytelling, and everything that keeps us turning pages long after we should have gone to sleep.
Hendrix has sold more than three million books, with his work translated into more than twenty languages. He is also the author of Paperbacks from Hell, his Bram Stoker Award-winning exploration of the gloriously gruesome horror paperback boom of the 1970s and '80s.
Joining Grady for the evening is Becky Spratford, Illinois librarian, author, horror expert, and one of the Chicago Tribune's 2025 Chicagoans of the Year. Becky is the author of Why I Love Horror and three textbooks for library workers, runs the critically acclaimed RA for All blog, and writes about horror for Library Journal.

About Becky Spratford
Becky Spratford is an Illinois librarian who trains library staff around the world on how to connect readers with books through their local public libraries. She runs the critically acclaimed RA for All blog, reviews for Booklist, and writes a horror review column for Library Journal. Becky is the author of three textbooks for library workers and the Bram Stoker and Locus Award-nominated Why I Love Horror. She serves on the Shirley Jackson Award Advisory Board and is Secretary and Co-Chair of the Libraries Committee for the Horror Writers Association. In 2025, she was named one of the Chicago Tribune's Chicagoans of the Year.
