Vermilion Heritage Foundation Board Members

John Dreher, President     John joined the Board of Directors of the Vermilion Heritage Foundation in June 1999. His involvement with the project began in 1988,while he served on the Danville City Council, where he supported the City’s acceptance of the theater from it’s previous owner, Kerasotes Theaters. He appreciated the Fischer as a quality location for live performances, having studied Music History and Appreciation, Music Theory, and Drama while at Indiana State University Laboratory in the early 1970s. John later sponsored Danville’s first Historic Preservation Ordinance and persuaded Aldermen to support its passage. Preservation of nineteenth century buildings became his passion and a subject which he has studied extensively. In 1997 John was named Community Development Manager for the City of Danville and two years later became the staff preservationist. He served one term as vice-president of Vermilion Heritage and as president from 2000-2002. His personal dream for the Fischer is to someday hear his favorite classical composition played to a full house. Schubert’s Quintet in A, D.667, Opus 114, "Trout" performed without the effects of artificial amplification, precisely as composer Franz Schubert intended.
